Looe and Polperro Events History
East Looe This is the main area to be to sample some of the many bakeries and pasty shops. East Looe has a wide sandy beach, safe for swimming with all the town facilities behind making it an ideal place to relax all day, with anything you need close by. Walk out to the end of banjo Pier and take in the amazing view.
At Hannafore in West Looe you have stunning views from the promenade right round to Rame head, and out upon St. George Island, take a boat trip out to explore the Island. There are some tasty eating places and cafe's In West Looe with great views out to sea. Visit Looe heritage centre under The Sardine Factory
Free Parking at West Looe, toilet facilities, tennis courts, good cafe’s, restaurants and bar is available to keep you topped up with food, drink and ice-creams during the day.
For rock pool ramblers and seashell collectors Hannafore beach is the place to visit, keep up with the next Rock Pool Ramble dates at Hannafore. Search: Looe Marine Conservation Group.

Walk along the coastal path between West Looe and Talland Bay and walk down to some of the beautiful hidden bays along the coastal path.
Polperro is picturesque steeped back in time and has a rich smuggling history. Its easy to imagine the local smugglers walking the streets of Polperro with their smuggling goods. Polperro still have the old feel with many of the cottages built into the rocks of the steep valley. Polperro might be small and quaint, but it has an array of historic pubs, shops and eating places to visit.
The sandy beach reveals itself at low tide with a natural pool in the rocks and an old smuggling cave.
Local bus service
You can leave the car behind and use the local bus service. Grab the 73 bus from Granite Henge to either Looe or Polperro.

Bus no 10 for Looe Polperro, Liskeard & Plymouth; picks up at nearby bus stop on the Looe /Polperro road.
Bus no 481 for Polruan great for coastal walkers and the foot passenger ferry across to Fowey picks up at the nearby bus stop on the Looe /Polperro road.
Special bus tickets available; £2.00pp single tickets and week passes, ask the driver for the best deal for your needs, unless you are lucky enough to have a bus-pass.
With the Looe valley train Line, the possibilities of having a car free day out is endless.
Talland Bay is just a mile down the road.
It has two sheltered bays to explore with huge rock-pools between the 2 bays at low tide. The south west coast path run through the bay between Polperro and Hannafore at West Looe.
Talland Bay is safe for swimming and popular with paddle boarding, kayaking and snorkeling. There is a cafe’ at each bay. At the main bay, the cafe offers kayak hire, the smaller bay has a great cafe with lovely views out to sea.
If you like walking, we can highly recommend walking out from Granite Henge and explore some of the many paths leading to Looe & Polperro. Free maps showing local walks provided in our Bungalow to get the most of our stay. Walk out & Bus back to Granite Henge.
Coast Path The Coastal path walk between Looe & Polperro through Talland Bay is outstanding. It’s an area of AONB Outstanding Natural Beauty. There are many hidden bays to explore between Talland bay and Hannafore. Walk the full coastal path total of 5.5 miles and bus back to Granite Henge. You can also walk straight down to Talland Bay and pick up the coastal path either way. Find some beautiful local area walks.
Kilminorth woods Beautiful ancient woodlands and Riverwalk along west Looe river into the Millpool carpark in West Looe.
The road opposite Granite Henge entrance leads through the hamlet of Trelawne, down into the woods, where the trail along West Looe river is found just after an old restored lime kiln. Into history, then look up the ancient history of Trelawne manor and the surrounding area.
Millendreath Beach is great for water sports and safe for swimming (located within 4.5miles to the east side out of Looe). Parking, toilets and a café by the beach.

FOWEY Explore the harbour town of Fowey via the picturesque Bodinnick Car Ferry 15 minute drive down to the ferry from Granite Henge or park your car in Polruan and get the foot passenger ferry across across to Fowey.
30min drive to Fowey around the Fowey river on the A390. The famous author Daphne du Maurier once lived in Fowey.
St. Austell & historic Charlestown with its tall ships, pubs and restaurants is 35min drive from Granite Henge.
Bodmin Moor 16 miles from Granite Henge is one of Cornwalls Area’s of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It has so much history to explore.
Its home to Caradon Mining District. There are many walks on the old train tracks with beautiful scenery over moorland and tin mines.
Golitha falls and the ancient woodland through which they flow is a National Nature Reserve. Siblyback lake on the edge of Bodmin Moor offering a perfect lake location to enjoy windsurfing, sailing, kayaking, wakeboarding, cycling and climbing in Cornwall.
Carnglaze caverns is a much-recommended all-weather family tourist attraction Visit this former slate mine where slate was both quarried and mined underground in Cornwall. Tours Underground & concerts; One of Cornwall’s and Devon’s premier underground experiences.
